Fr Elias Attah Ojomah

Extended family member (Nephew)

Papa Christopher Udeze Udogwu Ajodo, you were a mentor to many people, a model of Christian values and principles. A paragon of simplicity, discipline and modesty. My joy is that I saw you in February, 2025 when I came home. When I was ordained in 2004, you called some Echeno elders in Idah to host me and advise me on what is expected of me as a priest. I remember vividly how happy all of you were, I remember the few words of Mr Daniel Agbata, Sir Anaweta, Pa John Ajodo, Mr Benedict Nwuchola and your fatherly words. I have loved and admired you from my childhood, you taught me wisdom and principles of life.
Baba Christopher Ajodo, your name will always be on our lips, I will miss teasing you and calling you names even in your serious moments.
Elegant and handsome Papa, you taught me one lesson I will never forget. Ibaji Local government decided to honor you because of your numerous contributions in Ibaji, they decided to pay you some amount of money every month till death. You sent for me, I came and you asked me “if it is morally justifiable to accept the money since you never worked in the Local Government as a staff. I weighed it and told you to accept the offer since it is coming from them as honorarium. You thanked me and told me, you will think about it. Three days later, you called me back and told me that you have drafted a letter, stating that “you are rejecting the offer and the money, that the government should rather pay workers just wage and use the money to develop Ibaji.” I smiled, and called you Christopher Ajodo 1 of Echeno. I left happily because I learned something new that will stay with me forever. I have many good memories and testimonies of your principles and good works. The one I will never forget is that of telling me never to come to see you without my priestly cassock or Roman collar shirt. The few times I disobeyed you I got query from you, papa. In the cathedral as an administrator, I use hide if I see you coming to the mission and I am not in my cassock. I know you wanted me to be a good priest, so I am happy.
Papa, you attended morning masses constantly till you were not able to come due to old age, you never missed the evening rosary and benediction on Sunday evening. Your love for Catholic spirituality has no equal. Thanks for sharing your life with us.

To the noble family members of Pa Christopher Ajodo, Mama, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, we are very proud of Papa, we are privileged to have had him and experienced him. Let us keep his legacy alive, let his wisdom, principles, and discipline be our greatest strength. May the soul of Christopher Udeze Udogwu Ajodo and the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God rest in peace. Amen
